Job Description - Canton Downtown Development Authority Administrator
The position reports to the Canton Downtown Development Authority.
Overall responsibilities include overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the Canton Theatre and working with the DDA to achieve the authority's objectives of a strong downtown.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Coordinate all scheduling and rentals for the Canton Theatre.
Oversee operations and maintenance of the Canton Theatre.
Submit an annual budget for the theatre to the Canton DDA.
Secure sponsorships and other financial support from the community for the Canton Theatre.
Market the Canton Theatre and other programs of the Canton DDA.
Organize and attend all Canton DDA meetings.
Represent the Canton DDA at any events and meetings the authority deems necessary.
Assist with the Visitors Center scheduling and responsibilities as the Canton DDA directs.
Work wit the Canton DDA in any and all projects it undertakes.
Job Duration: 12-months
Hours - the Canton Downtown Development Authority Administrator will work 30 hours per week. Any responsibilities that require the Administrator to work outside the normal business day will be compensated by not working the time during regular hours.
Qualifications:
The Canton Downtown Development Authority seeks an experienced organizer and creative thinker, able to work closely and in partnership with Development Authority to ensure the future success of the theatre. The chosen candidate will demonstrate strong leadership acumen, exhibit effective organization and solid interpersonal skills including a track record for leading and a firm understanding of management processes, have excellent budgetary skills and possess outgoing and proactive community building skills.
The ideal candidate will:
-Have the desire and ability to support and communicate the Development Authority's mission and goals.
-Have a minimum of five years of experience in a non-profit arts/leadership position with experience in fund raising, board relations, and marketing. Prior experience in a theatre company is highly desirable.
-Have strong skills in budgeting, presenting, and interpreting monthly and quarterly budget estimates, creating long term budgets and goals, and financial management.
-Demonstrate experience and capacity to lead, manage, motivate, inspire, train and collaborate with staff, artists, theatre groups, rental customers, Development Authority Members and volunteers.
-Have the ability to successfully develop and implement long term strategic and annual tactical plans.
-Exhibit stamina and a strong work ethic, as well as the flexibility to deal with unpredictable pressures and a variable flow of work activity.
-Be able to speak and write persuasively and serve as as spokesperson for the company in public and to the media.
-Show expertise in the understanding and management of complex financial activities.
-Demonstrate experience in supervising/managing fund raising campaigns and identifying new sources and increased levels of contributed income
-Have a working knowledge of artistic production including intellectual property rights, collective bargaining and contracts.
-Have experience and knowledge of marketing, advertising and public relations activities, particularly as they relate to growing ticket and other earned income revenue.
-Demonstrate a passion for theatre and the connection to and role in its community.
